Rumi sayings and quotes

Rumi is best known as a poet to the Western world, but he was also a Sunni Muslim Islamic Jurist, a theologian and sufi mystic. His works were written 13th century 'New Persian'. Persian was a language used by educated people all over the Middle East: from Spain to India. As such he was using the 'English' of the time. No wonder his works cross national and ethnic borders then. His popularity has ensured translations of his works into local languages all over the Muslim world: from Urdu and Bengali to Arabic and Turkish languages. I thought I'd share some of his work. :)

  •                                                                    Patience is the key to joy.

  •       Since in order to speak, one must first listen, learn to speak by listening.

  •     That which is false troubles the heart, but truth brings joyous tranquility.

  •                                      The middle path is the way to wisdom.

  •                             The only lasting beauty is the beauty of the heart.

  •          Thirst drove me down to the water where I drank the moon's reflection.

  • If your guidance is your ego, don't rely on luck for help. you sleep during the day and the nights are short. By the time you wake up your life may be over.

There are so much more quotes, but these are ones that inspire me sometimes. :)

Making couscous, easy steps :D

Hi girls,
I've been asked to put a recipe for how to make the perfect Couscous. So I'm gonna do my best to explain in an easy way.

Ingrediants:

Coucous
All kinds of vegetables you want.
Make sure you have sweet potatos, and a piece of pumkin.!
Chicken , or beef, or none (for vegetarians)
1 1/2 teaspoon Salt
2 teaspoon  Ground pepper
 1teaspoon  Ginger
1teaspoon Ground Cardamom
2 Tablespoon of olive oil.
1 onion
1 Tomato

Step one, see this box..

Anyway this is the box which contains the Couscous. Put it in a large pot. I can't find a picture with a large pot but just do what I say! :P

So this is actually a small pot. Use a larger one. and put half the contents of the box.
Now what you're going to do is take a cup of water and mix it with that. BUTT READ CAREFULLY!
When you're gonna put the water, put is in a way as if its rain falling on the couscous. So you have to be careful and pour the water in a showery way all around the pot which contains the cousous. Keep doing that until the water from teh cup is done. Than get 1 table spoon of oil  and one pinch of salt. And pour it around the couscous.
Next step is, wash your hand than mix the mixture you just did with your fingers! Making sure that you don't turn the couscous into paste! ALL THE COUSCOUS dots should be seperated. Keep mixing for like 2 minutes.

Step 2:

Cut the onion into pieces.Place a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat.Put 2 Tablespoons of olive oil.And put the onion you just cut. Let them heat for 2 minutes. Then add the Chicken or Beef and a 4 sliced Tomato. After 5 minutes add 1 cup of water, and then pour the spices.Let that heat.

Step 3:

Go and cut all your veggies, into small pieces. like cubes if you want. Except for sweet potatoes and pumpkin! Ill tell you why later.
Now when you finish cutting the vegetables go and add them to the pot where you are heating your chicken and tomato and etc... Add to that 2 cups of water!

Step 4: Repeat Step 1, Shower the couscous and add 1 Tablespoon of oil. Mix it with your fingers making sure that you you don't turn it to a paste. Now you are going to use a SPECIAL POT. Please concentate well with me.
The vegetables and chicken/beef you are heating are in the low pot of this pic.

Now the couscous which you were mixing you have to put it in the top pot. This top pot has holes in it. That means that your couscous will get cooked by the evaporation of your lower pot.
 Like this...

All you have to do now is heat this for 20 minutes. Then go back to it. Take the upper pot, put its content in your large bowl, shower it like in step one but don't add oil this time. Let it cool for about 5 minutes after mixing. Then re-put it in the upper pot and let it heat for 15 minutes, then add the sweet potato and the pieces of pumpkin than let everythign heat for 15 more minutes. Afterwards your couscous is done... :)

Put the Couscous and then decorate it with the Vegetables and shower it with the soup you are left with.!

Whitening of Teeth

I know that maybe 70% of us all, have searched around the internet for homemade things which we could use to whiten our teeths.. At least i was one of them Haha!
But i came across this article which really got to my attention. It was about the Miswak. Its a plant which people used to use as a toothbrush long time ago.
 It looks like this,...

Anyway thing stick actually whitens your teeth! use it everydayyy after eating anything. Use it for 2 weeks and I promise you will see a big difference!
I know this because i've tried it.

Its History :

The miswak is predominant in Muslim-inhabited areas, but its use predates the inception of Islam. The stick's use has spread from the Middle East to South and Southeast Asia, where it is known as Kayu Sugi(Malay for 'chewing stick'). It is often mentioned that the Islamic Prophet Muhammad recommended its use. He is quoted in various Hadith extolling the twig's virtues:
"Were it not that I might over-burden the Believers I would have ordered them to use Siwak (Miswak) at the time of every Prayer."[1]
"Four things are from among the practices of the Prophets: Circumcision, Perfume, Miswak, and Marriage."[1]
"Make a regular practice of Miswak for verily it is the purification for the mouth and a means of the pleasure of the Lord."[1]

Indeed people, it really is a purification of the mouth! Because even scientists discovered that it kills germs, removes bad breaths better than the mouth refreshener, and whitens teeeth!

+ for my muslim girls, this may be useful to you as well here...

The use of the miswak is frequently advocated in the hadith (the traditions relating to the life of Muhammad). Situations where themiswak is recommended to be used include, before religious practice, before entering one's house, before and after going on a journey, on Fridays[10], before sleeping and after waking up, when experiencing hunger or thirst and before entering any good gathering.
In addition to strengthening the gums, preventing tooth decay and eliminating toothaches, the miswak is also said to halt further increase in decay that has already set in. Furthermore, it is said to create a fragrance in the mouth, eliminate bad breath, improve sensitivity of taste-buds and promote cleaner teeth.

You can find this in any grocery store nowadays.. and if you're not living in the middle east, then just go to an arab grocery or such thing and ask for miswak. They usually sell it there! :)

Friend Problems? Need Self Confidence..

So firstly, ill start by talking about my story.

When I used to be in high school, i used to be like in a group of friends where we'd always hang out and all. We graduated last summer, and what shocked me, was how many of my so called friends, didn't bother to ask about me, what am I studying now? What college did I go to..?  How was my summer vacation,None of  the above. I tried my best to ask about them, as I am a person who don't give up easily on my friends.. Sadly they would always respond with answers such as " I'm busy with uni work". I tried and tried, but you know sometimes you get to the point where it's enough. I'm not a dog. I'm not going to spend my whole life following you. I made new friends. So the point from this story is that..

Eventually, people come and go in this life. And I am a firm beleiver, that people come in for a purpose. God wants them to be in our lives for some kind of purpose. So when they leave all we have to do is embrace it in a positive way. I mean after all we all learn from our experiences. Don't we?

People will hurt you, lie to you, talk about you. But if you want to be a good person, than stay positive and be honest and be true and don't let such things get to you! After all we are all here in this life as guests, and our main purpose is to please God, wether you are a muslim, a christian, a budhist, etc... So always keep in mind that, it's not what people think about you! Its not about how people look at you! Its about how your God sees you! If you ever feel like there is no one there for you. Always remember that there is this one that will follow you , that will be with you through all your journeys. And that is God. So please girls never let lost friendships to ruin your self confidence!

If you have friends that let go of you because of who you are, or because of your beleives and you ideas and opinions, than they are not worth your time! Stay who you are, never change for a person.
And always remember this.... Things happen for a reason! There is a reason behind everything in this life! So when someone leaves you, try to think of the positive things that made you the person you are today!

Period Pain Remedy

I know that many of us suffer from period pain. And I know that some girls reach to the point where they have been going to the hospital for injections.. And I am one of them. I used to take period pain killer pills like brufen 800. But  then when I did more research I found out that these pills are very dangerous, to the point that when you want to get pregnant lets say in the future, you can't! Scary isn't it! So i did a research to try and figure out some natural home remedies for menstrual cramps.
Below are some helpful tips that can help us during this particularly painful time of the month...

So firstly, there's this herb called rosemary, I'm sure that many of you heard about it. Wash it very carefuly and then heat it with water until it boils. ( Use the amount of water you'd drink) Then after boiling. Take it off from the heat and use a filter to filter the herbs so that you're left with the drink. Add some sugar and drink it while its hot!

Secondly , NEVER drink something cold! Especially water, because what it does is that it freezes your blood in some parts of the body which makes you get more pain. Ice cream isn't good either!

Thirdly, take a small towel and keep rinsing it with realy hot water and put it around your tummy. It makes your blood hot so it flows naturally and the pain decreases.

Avoid salt, and trust me with this. Your pain won't totally go away but it will decrease! I'm still trying to figure out something that can make the pain go for once and for all, but i'm pretty sure there isn't..

I hope this helped!

I thank Allah

I just want to say that I'm really grateful to have such a wonderful family.! Thank you all.
You should all be grateful to have families.. Some people don't have that! So we should all thank God! Wether we are Muslims, Christians, Indus, etc..
Alhamdulilah! <3 :)
